Dave’s Drills – Moving Back

When many players start, they believe that to move backwards in the court in the most efficient manner, you simply run backwards. However the correct way of moving backwards in the court is to move sideways on to the ball.

In the video below, David Ireland, explains the best footwork to move back to a deep ball. This method allows the player to maintain balance and strength as well as create a quick return to the baseline.
